Irtijal 2018

Overview

In 2018, and for the first time in its long history, Irtijal will take place in two separate installments: the Festival’s 18th edition consists of a two-fold program that pays homage to the purest expression of experimental music, on the one hand, while showcasing tumultuous rock alternatives on the other.

We are proud to welcome, after much courting and missed opportunities, famed Australian trio The Necks, whose elevated music defines any sort of graspable categorization.

They are only one of many highlights of Irtijal’18, alongside brilliant French free-rock collective Oiseaux-Tempête, as well as a host of local favorites, both young and experienced, straddling the genres of electronica, post-rock and modern Middle Eastern forms.

True to its tradition, Irtijal is pursuing its mission of promoting contemporary and experimental music practices, all the while presenting artistic projects that do not necessarily belong within the Lebanese mainstream, yet present undeniable value and novelty.
